A lovely take on the unexpected gems we encounter while travelling

As a child I treasured a beautifully illustrated old-fashioned book called The Little Book of Indian Wisdom, and my favourite phrase in it was, ”The smile you send out returns to you“,
Below you will find a photo collection of recent smiles that might return smiles to you too.
Many of them are migrant workers (from Egypt, Bangladesh, Pakistan and Yemen) who kindly let me photograph them when I was living in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, and there are also one or two others included.
